Settling into '07

Well, I can honestly say the year has only gotten better so far. Albeit I've been to the doctor to have a mole looked at AND had another one of those eyeflash migraine things (no migraine yet this time). I seriously think I'm a hypochondriac... but I hadn't noticed the red weepy lump behind my knee before and I couldn't remember if I normally had a mole there or not and The Hun said Iit looked like a moll mole, so I figured better safe than sorry. I gotta stop throwing away my money in $60 ($60!!!!! (minus the rebate of $30 something, but still)) bundles like that...

Anyways, I finally removed the link to my Enny-Point blog because I'm not really WeightWatching at the moment - I'm just trying to eat 'better' and get 'fitter'. Like coooking up a steaming pile of a recipe from one of my Christmas Cookbooks - I can't really give the recipe, but it's basically rice, kidney beans, tofu, carrots, mushroom, tomato, tomato juice, garlic, onion, olives and some herbs and spices. You see? Not necessarilly low in points (with the rice, beans and tofu) but good for me... and doing pump and weights at the gym - won't make me lighter as such, but will tone me and get me fitter...

Monday was spent eating boiled rice and water, with a lil gatoride (playin' it safe..!) and a walk with Max, middle bro and dadsy.

Tuesday I had mueslie and light soy milk, a lil baggie of air popped popcorn, a redeye from 10 - 11:30 to dull the pain in my head, a bowl of lunch mash, some sultanas, a walk with Max, middle bro, dadsy, mumsy and youngest bro, a Pump Class and dinner was a pasta, eggplant, tofutti cream cheese, tomato combination.

Today was mueslie and light soy milk, a lil baggie of air popped popcorn, a redeye at 1 (I'm spreading them out you see!), a bowl of lunch mash, some sultanas and two pieces of vegemite toast to absorb the dispirin direct. Dinner will be leftovers from last night and some lunch mash (oooh yeah, go the mash!) and I'll head out to the shed and punch the bag if this mini headache goes back to where it came from and I get sick of watching Zelda.

I'll try not to carry on a lot about what I'm eating (spesh as I can't really give out the recipe's!) but lemme know if I do and I'll try to tone it down a bit.

(Also, has anyone else watched Weeds? I love Mary-Louise Parker and I think the show's hilarious (we've 'acquired' season one and are up to the last episode!), but there's still that try-hard-wannabe in me that is making me think it's promoting pot... you don't see any of the bad side of it on the show now, do you?)

Has everyone else setteled into their new year thang?

I love Weeds, I've only remembered to watch it three times, and now the series is over ;( I reckon it shows a bit of a "bad" side of pot, like the stress of not wanting her kids to know what she's doing, and have her stash taken off her (in the last ep). I suppose it if was all "pot ruins lives, it's such a bad thing" no one would watch it, right? :)

Lunch mash sounds good, I love mashed anything. What's in it? If it involved sweet potato I am SO there!!

tofutti cream cheese

hmmm, what's that?
Is it any good? Is it expensive? Does it contain gluten? Have you tried Cheezely? It's sooooo good.

I enjoy Weeds. Think I'll get over it quickly though. I dunno it's just a bit too tongue in cheek or something.

Ah, yes, Weeds. I didn't feel like it was promoting it so much because a few of the smokers on the show (especially Kevin Nealon) are D-U-M. And there's the very real threat from the law and other violence. I will probably rent next season's when it comes out.

I just rented "Big Love," which is great. Such a CF.

D'jen - That's true - she WAS pretty stressed! And you do make a valid point if it was sad then it would have zero watchers - I found the bit where the security guard apologised really sad!! There's no sweet potato in my mash, but there's no reason you couldn't chuck it in!

jey - it's a non cheese cream cheese type thing - it's not that expensive I don't think, but it's a different taste/texture to experience (that's also rennet free!) though I'm unsure if it's gluten free - I don't know how to identify gluten! I haven't tried Cheezly but have read some vegans raving about it - where can I get me some of that?!

sm - Hullo! It's not so much of promoting it - like the brother in law is creepy and annoying, but it's not like it plays down 'casual smokers'? I'm looking forward to season 2! And can you 'splain the second line? I'm a bit confused!

lulu - HNY!!! Why thankyou - though as at this morning I was technically up 200g from Monday =o| I've heard that 'earl' takes a bit of getting into, so I'll def look into that one - and get goin on those resolutions girl!

I only know where to get cheezely on the web, a friend picked me up some from a vegan store in Melbourne.
www.glutenfreeshop.com.au
crueltyfreeshop.com.au

Some tofutti cheese products are on the gluten free website so some of them are gluten free. Googling to find out more about the tofutti cream cheese.

Where would I buy this tofutti cream cheese?

Jey - HrrrrRRRrrrrm - I really need to get around to these places more! I picked mine up from Conder Woolies, but I'm sure it would be at more than one? I've also read in the Vegan Perfection newsletter that 'As Nature Intetnded' in the Belco markets stocks stuff, though I'm not entirely sure what and I really should get out there!

Mr B'b'rry - Hooray! I can learn some quotes and then recite them in your comments to make you cranky!

Enny, I know it had gluten and dairy free hot cross buns last easter (I think that was the store anyway), that's quite a rarity. So I imagine they'd have quite a range to suit other needs.

Here's some info http://www.belconnenmarkets.com.au/cafes3.html

Whoa! I've never heard of Weeds, how are you people always so up with pop culture? Where do you all find out about this stuff?

Hey Enny Pen, whenever you wish someone a happy new year, I keep thinking you are exclaiming over their bottom - HiNeY!

Enny said...

jey - OMG I HOPE I CAN EAT THOSE BUNS!

adam - It's on TV, crazy! And it always reminds me of HuNnY, so you're dirtier than me.

Found Tofutti cream cheese in Woolies (reasonable price too!), it contains maltodextrin, which contains gluten so I can't eat it, but as I said before I can eat a number of their other products.
Now all I gotta do is find them.

I don't recall if the buns were vegan friendly, just have to wait and see , I guess.

I made my own tofu 'cream' last night with just some silken tofu & honey... oh! thats right you dont eat honey hey? hrmm... I suppose sugar would still be okay to add some sweetness?

It's not bad, just a tad watery but its really nice with a big bowl of blueberries, raspberries and strawberries...

whats rennet? i havent heard these terms before...

jey - wow, gluten free must really limit a lot of what you can eat! Are you allergic? I've got nothing to do today other than clean *shudders* so I'm gonna head out there today!

deb - yeah, no honey for me (tho your fruit sounds lovely)! Rennet: calves stomach, see:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rennet

(sorry for the unfortunate truth!)

Only about 35% of worldwide cheese production uses animal rennet. Artificial coagulants are a useful alternative, especially for cheap or lower-quality cheeses.

Thank goodness for that!!!

Because I'm such a cheap ass, I only buy the cheap stuff... Altho I did notice on my cheese thats in the fridge it says 'enzyme (rennet)' on it... :(

Have you seen this stuff? http://www.vegsoc.org.au/product_list.asp?ProductID=4 Vegetarian - Mainland Premium Quality Cheese (Vegetarian) I think i will definately be buying this from now on! Not that i even really need to eat cheese...

Thanks for opening my eyes to this one Enny!!!

deb - you're welcome - and I'll keep an eye out for that one in the shops! Largely, cheese is a no go area, also due to the casein:
